Zoo, Haseloff, Shower, Hockey

We’ve had a lot of activity in the last couple of days.

Our friends the Haseloffs came to town to see Chicago. They stayed here in the Reba guest house. We were able to spend some time together, although they had business of their own. Jedidiah got to go to the Lincoln Park zoo with his friends and his mom.

This afternoon Candace had a baby shower for our new baby girl coming. There were about 20 ladies at the party, all new friends. It was just perfect for Candace – quiet conversations about the home-birthing process and the transitions of having a new baby. The girls were really supportive and prayed for both Candace and our girl.

Meanwhile Jedi and Dad were out with the boys eating pizza and playing hockey.

The time is fast approaching when we get to meet our next installment. Candace is due in a couple of weeks, but anytime now could happen. I have given thanks again and again for the health of this pregnancy. We have not had one incident where we thought the baby ought to be checked out by a doctor (other than her standard appointments).

It continues to be the season of Lent, and worship at Reba Place Church continues to be a treat for us to attend. We feel pretty adjusted to the new neighborhood and all – we have friends, know when and where to buy groceries, don’t get parking tickets. So here comes major adjustment number two!!!

Sabbath is a difficult commandment to keep.

First, here are a few belly pictures - taken at the end of each month (1-8).

We had decided that this month was going to be a month of rest. You know, limit our commitments and hole up in the apartment to get ready for a new family member. Spend a little extra time on the ole marriage. But eight days into the month, we have not done too well so far.
For one, Candace and new baby have four midwives operating out of separate locations , plus a doula and a midwife-in-training (that is 6 people) who all want appointments regularly at this point in the pregnancy. (The big day is about a month from now!)
Another thing that happened is that Josh and three other artists did all new paintings for an opening last night to a show with the theme of Lent.

So we will try this thing again next week. Sabbath is a difficult commandment to keep.
