Mother's day

Today we celebrated Candace and her motherhood. We went to a vegetarian restaurant a few blocks from our house (Candace wants you all to know that she had a stuffed avocado with anasazi beans and quinoa garnished with pumpkin seeds and tomatillo sauce "amazing"). It seemed like most of the people eating there had taken a family bike ride to the restaurant to take their moms out to eat. We bumped into a midwife's assistant that was on our birth. (birth story here) All of this made me remark that we have moved far away from small town New Mexico. Candace is excited to live somewhere where the grass is green.
It's a beautiful time of year here. Tulips and blossoming trees.

We have had Josh's mom and dad in town last weekend. The week before we went to a wedding in Indiana. (Explaining the lack of posts)

We want to thank you all for your kind notes and encouragements about Lilia's name and about other McCallister related stuff. [We don't know how to respond to your comments, but we do read them and they do mean a lot to us!]

I have insisted that we start thinking more about community now that Lilia has been born. We will be writing about family, but also about life in community.

In keeping with choices for tight community we are going to be moving again, to another apartment building two blocks away (still in the Reba Place neighborhood). The move will put us in the same stairwell with another Reba family with kids and several of our young couple friends. We envision more sharing of time, meals, kid duties, and whatnot. Also, this new place will be on the first floor (not the 3rd where we are now), and we'll have a little more space.

Peace to you all.
